Short Take: Was “The Odyssey” about Embezzlement?

I’ve Discussed a few films here at Anarchonomicon… We Did a Podcast on the insane psychedelic Canadian History Film “The Twentieth Century”, I went almost 4 Hours on the crime in Micheal Mann’s “HEAT”, and I Adored the Re-Cut of CALIGULA… And I still get Comments on my review of “Blackberry”.

But this is the first time I’m discussing Hollywood as a business…

Was “The Odyssey” about Embezzlement?

HELLO. This is insane.

So Nolan is getting 15% off direct Revenue, (Not profits, Gross) and his wife another 5%) from the Odyssey, basically risk free, AFTER his 20 million up front.

That’s a better cut than a lot of mob bosses take off drug dealers. (which tend to vary between 5 and 30% depending on how much violence they can command)

And probably core stars (Daiman and Hathaway mostly) are getting some smaller percent of the same deal.

This is unheard of. Basically a violation of fiduciary duties to the investors.

So if another 10-30% of Gross is divided across Daiman, Hathaway, Holand, Pattinson, and Theron... You know the real stars (Zendaya, Nyong’o, and Page don’t draw crowds and aren’t getting that)...

Then you might have to effectively cut all revenue first by 50% for theaters, then by another 40-50% for the star power.

It other words... The Odyssey would need to make 800million- 1 billion before it could even hypothetically start to turn a profit for investors.

All the Woke casting etc. Is actually a cover for basically outright money laundering and embezzlement by the entertainment class. And because its “sticking it to the Chuds” business news and institutions are covering for the fact a bunch of studios just defrauded universal studio’s parent Comcast, to possibly the tune of hundreds of millions.

Comcast is a publicly traded company. That’s 401Ks and pension funds.

And all the woke stuff is in there so that no studio execs, corporate leaders, media, or corporate watchdogs will call them out for basically transferring hundreds of millions of retiree dollars into their own pockets.

All the discussion of “Will the Odyssey make its money back” is missing the point that there is almost NO WAY for the Odyssey to actually produce a reasonable return to investors... BY DESIGN.

It is a pure, basically fraudulent, wealth transfer from American middle-class investors to Hollywood insiders irrespective of whatever money the film does or does not make... Intentionally.

And all the woke window dressing is chaff, or a bonus to prevent any institutions from having the nerve to call them out lest they get called, racist, sexist, and transphobic.

Indeed, Nolan has been playing this game for a while... He somehow got the same deal on Tenet... A film that almost certainly made hundreds of million LESS at the Box office for having a relatively unknown black star as opposed to a traditional leading man with star power (of which there are some actors of Color... Will Smith, Dwayne Johnson, and Vin Deisel notably), but which meant that the insane cut he took got almost no scrutiny.

Indeed, the Tenet deal was justified as a way for Warner Bros to secure their relationship with Nolan (something apparently 3 Batman Films, Inception, Interstellar, and Dunkirk hadn’t done)... Only for Nolan to switch to Universal for Oppenheimer and never make another film with Warner Bros again... Did someone senior at Warner Bros realize what he and his producers were doing?

And why did Universal give him the deal Warner Bros never gave him again?

Who at Universal was willing to let Nolan walk away with 10s of millions whilst their investors lost money… just so long as he included “Elliot” Page and a black Helen of Troy, and depicted the Greek rhapsodes as black rappers?

Whenever you see woke, you should think “Money Laundering” because Hollywood and other institutions know that Government and Media watchdogs won’t investigate and any investor’s group who sues will have a nightmare arguing the malfeasance, but also that their loss of funds can instead be blamed the “racism” of Audiences... That the film was rightly predicted to make whatever insane billions it needed to break even, it’s just the racism of the Audience! Which of course should be predictable and accounted for given you’re using OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY, but which no law firm is going to want to argue, and no court or Jury is going to look favorably on... That you violated your fiduciary duty by hiring black actors and are using that as a cover for embezzlement.
