On the Hard Limits of Chemical Warfare

I am cursed.

I am cursed in that I basically know the conspiracy theories which are true and which are fake, and how to check and test them… I could be wrong on any individual one… But I basically believe I have a good epistemology of test conspiracies or categorising them according to probability…

Israel killed JFK? Highly Likely. Moon landing was faked? Extremely Unlikely.

Why would that be a curse?

Because that means every time a NEW conspiracy theory comes out I can’t just dismiss it like blue-pilled libtards dismiss everything, but I also don’t just believe it in the fun way kooks believe it… and most kooks do have fun believing conspiracy theories (or rather did, not so fun after lockdown)… I have to actually check.

I’ve seen enough confirmed that whenever a new insanity comes out my hackles have to rise and I have to actually run through it as if its a threat. Because it might be!

This leads us to the latest conspiracy theory… The Fog.

From Florida to the Midwest to Toronto, to Massachusetts and even London… People are noticing FOG. Allegedly the moisture isn’t behaving normally, it’s drier than usual, there’s an odd smell….

And This is why Americans need the metric system...

1 Cubic kilometre is exactly 1 Trillion liters (neat how that works). 1 DOT 111 chemical Tank Car is just over 100,000 liters. To cover a 1 kilometer^3 area of air with a chemical fog at 1 pt per million would take 10 DOT Tank Cars (1 million liters, a trillion is a million millions)... For reference normal Fog forms when water is at ~3000-4000 ppm.

To cover merely an area the size of Ohio (100k sq Kilometers) once (not ongoing with it dispersing in wind and hitting the ground)...at a mere 1 part per million of a chemical, Would take 1 million Train cars. (over 50% of the 1.6 million train cars in north America)

Now I don’t know how many parts per million this Fog/drizzle is… but I’m counting at least 3 large droplets… So at least 3 parts per million /sarc. Or 3 million train cars to cover an area the size of Ohio, more than all of north america’s rolling stock.

This reduces if we assume the cloud of fog stays low… but under 200-500 meters we’d be getting really ominous photos from Bush planes and tall buildings showing unnatural and obvious hazes and smokes covering ground.

This math is an insane pain in the ass to do with the imperial system, but with metric you don’t even need to get out a calculator.

But put simply, There is no way to chemically produce artificial fog that covers entire states...(let alone Florida, to UK, to Toronto) It is a logistical impossibility.

Theoretically you could pump water into the atmosphere from lakes or the sea if you started burning insane amounts of fuel to convert it to steam very noticeably (Geysering plumes)... But no one has seen any such thing... And you'd just be pumping water into the atmosphere... Where it belongs.

And also you’d be burning insane amounts of fuel to do it.

There were theories that by suspending a bioweapon in water you could arisolize and disperse it... But there's a problem with this... Its winter, and between superheating and then cooling it to freezing (remember atmosphere gets colder as you go up) you'd probably kill whatever bacteria or virus you wanted to distribute.

This is the hard limit of chemical weapons… Even something insanely poisonous like VX Nerve Gas is limited by the fact that it’s just a chemical reaction and it dilutes in the atmosphere… The slightest amount will bind to your nerve endings and cause your heart and lungs to spasm to death, but the raw size of normal space dilutes it VERY quickly. It’s almost impossible to get a nuclear or radiological level of damage out of Macro-Atomic physics… Mere molecules reacting is always limited by the tonnage of material you can bring to the table.

This is why mere hundred lb Nukes are measured in kilotons or megatons: Hundreds or millions of tons of TNT… The amount of energy and activity produced by chemical vs. atomic reactions is so different in scales. And this is why Radiological dangers are so much worse by volume than chemical dangers for producing cancers, tumours and ailments…

Biological weapons are different in that at least theoretically they can self replicate (bacteria, viruses, ticks, mosquitos infected with Bill Gates injector diseases) but even these are limited in the ways normal life is limited (and by chemical limits as well) every bacteria, virus, parasite, animal, etc. Wants to eat you on some level… You’re built of nice digestible fats and proteins, evolution has adapted ring worms, plagues, molds, germs, and polar bears to efficiently gain access to your flesh and devour it… And it’s really hard to beat evolution at doing that efficiently! And even harder to beat all the hygenic, disinfectant, sociological, and lifestyle ways that people have adapted — or atleast first-world heterosexual white westerners have adapted— to avoid being best by parasites, diseases, and polar bears.

THis is why Chemical and biological weapons generally suck unless very directly targeted against military positions, and aren't that good when used as strategic weapons against populations (unless the point is bare provocation).

The only exception is if you trick someone to somehow willingly put it into their body... Like with a syringe, or pills, or sex, or by putting it in their water supply.
