Excellent discussion, well worth listening to, especially the details on the coordination of disaster relief (and the natural utility of such approaches as were mentioned in the context of other useful activities irl).

I do think, though, that the screening advice MetaPrime advocates around the 2 hour mark and elsewhere for irl network building, while practical, is also lamentably restrictive.

While it is certainly maladaptive to be spergy (not be able to hide your power level), unable to succeed in the modern world, unable to find the strength to act in favour of getting lost reading online content and so on, these traits don't necessarily imply that the person who possesses them is of low quality and shouldn't get through the present filter of our time.

One could imagine Nietzche or Schopenhauer, for example, failing on such counts. As Moldbug puts it (though I'm paraphrasing): "America has no shortage of excellent programmers, the problem is just that they're currently living under a bridge addicted to fentanyl..."

I don't have an alternative to suggest, of course, since lamentably we don't have the resources to try to help such people, so this isn't a criticism of the points made in the podcast, but I observe that amongst such people can be found the fonts of exactly the kinds of luxuries that gave ages past their cultural brilliances. Maybe: 'hyper-intellectual, dysfunctional weirdo' isn't synonymous with 'leftist', in the same way that 'sensible and reliable person' isn't synonymous with 'Fren'.
