Update, Links, and the Future: March 2023
It was the Most Productive of Times, it was the Least Productive of Times
Wow, This has been quite the two months.
If you follow me on Twitter (@FromKulak) then you know that for the past 2 months I’ve been carving an Alexandrian path of glory and conquest through the culture. since approximately Christmas I’ve been posting or reposting a 500-800 word twitter thread every day, with subject matter varying from Geopolitics, to tabletop RPGs, to film reviews, to the literary merits of Ayn Rand… All excellent stuff, and with devastating effect:
Around new years I had about 3k twitter followers, as of writing that has now grown to 13.5k and if anything that rate of growth has been dramatically accelerating. This has been reflected back here on Substack in the metrics that matter. Around new years I had approximately 400 free subscribers to this newsletter, that has now grown to 1500, with a proportionate increase in paid subscribers.
Making this newsletter my full time source of employment has gone from a pipe dream just barely within the bounds of the theoretical, to something that’s on track to happen by the end of this year if not sooner.
And if you are one of those paid subscribers who’ve chosen to support me and prove the viability of this project despite me having almost nothing paywalled, and basically no incentive to go paid… Thankyou so much. And my god am I sorry.
.
Basically when I saw the traction I was getting on twitter and the growth that was possible I knew that was what I had to focus on… whilst at the same time several of the 10’000 word (20-30 page) mega-articles I’ve been working on, and have become my stock and trade… well they blew up in my face.
One in particular which was supposed to be my longest and most ambitious article to date, summarizing my theory of historical cycles and the inevitable course of geopolitics going into the third millennia… well it completely exploded when I realized “Crap this is 50-100 thousand words worth of material to cover… that’s a book!?”.
So that work has to be completely reconceived, reframed, sub-divided by subject and part… and hopefully part 1 of …6? 10!? will be out by end of March.
Likewise I have about 5-10 other works that are 50-75% complete with thousands of words each, that need to be brushed up rejiggered and then they can become articles.
So thankyou again so deeply to my paid subscribers, especially the handful who’ve been supporting me since before 2023. Its been a bumpy ride, but we’re moving FAST and glorious regular content is on the horizon.

My Dear Friends at the Bailey podcast: Terrorist-Lawyer Yassine, Furry-Scandal monger Tracing Woodgrains, Illegal-Canadian Sultan, and Trumpian-JoJo character Shakesneer have a new podcast episode out on their (well not Yassine’s) experiences with their gay marriages, hookup culture, Muslim Apostacy, AIDS, and other Haram degenerate butt-pirate stuff.
And also checkout Yassine, Neophos, Interversity and Xantos discussing (Heterosexual (mostly)) Porn, porn addiction, and its impact on the culture and the inevitable collapse of human civilization into sterile dopamine poisoned screen zombies.
I’ve appeared on the Bailey Podcast many times, notably the CatGirl episode… and I strongly recommend checking it out.

Literature is fucking dead.
Whilst I’d argue that the decline began long ago…American lit especially having always been a hellscape of anxious status seeking counter signaling midwits (Shakespeare recognized no distinction between horror, religious, romance, historical, speculative, and military fiction… the fact American fiction has a category “Literary fiction” which presumes to exclude the most popular genres and tastes belies how unserious and without value America’s cultural elite are)…
But my god has Literature collapsed from the already falling bar we knew just a few decades ago. And the culprit for this final coup de grace, this final descent into anti-aesthetic anti-fiction?
Say it with me… Academia and the Laptop Class. Specifically the MFA, and the totalizing Orwellian panopticon/Maoist struggle session that is the writer’s workshop. Because yeah, what we need is a publishing committee that can butcher your work before its even finished.
“But Kulak” I hear you ask, “How do you recommend writing then?”
Well you isolate yourself after extensive exercise, alcohol, drug, caffeine and/or music consumption… you open a blank page, and then you pour into it your hatred, your malice, and your will to dominate all life.
Then you look at it in the mourning after restless dreams… You may recoil in horror at the nightmare that’s come out of you, or you may be pleasantly surprised at your creativity… if the later delete it all and try again. You pulled your punch pussy.
If properly horrified however, hit publish immediately. Before you can lose your nerve or some saner soul can stop you.
I’ve known writers who like peer review and input… They’re all cowards.

An excellent piece by
on the Academic malfeasance that has dominated English history and archeology for the past 70 years. Somehow, seemingly completely without evidence, or rather contrary to all the evidence to ever exist, the modern academy created and propagated an entire narrative that the Anglo-Saxons did not exist! There were no invasions of Britain by Germanic peoples in the 7th and 8th century, and somehow every primary source from the period or subsequent centuries just made it up.As always one's instincts should be to trust period historians and primary sources such as Bede, Tacitus, or Caesar over modern historians where-ever they conflict. Do primary sources have agendas and motives to lie or misrepresent? Yes. But their agendas are to deceive and harm their rivals 2000s years ago, whereas modern historians have agendas to deceive and harm you today! Caesar’s lies are going to be utterly irrelevant to your values and 90% of the things you’ll care about getting from the period. They’ll be positioned to gain advantage with a public or sentator… Modern historians however are zeroed in on the most important thing in the culture today and lying specifically on the thing that matters most to you.
Any argument for why historians and commentators in the past should be treated with suspicion should apply doubly and triply to the modern period and people who have yet to gain via their lies and deceptions, and whose political agendas are still active.
Fortunately for us genetic testing has confirmed the cultural makeup of modern Britain is exactly what 1000 years of historical record would have you believe, and this is merely another excellent case for why you should shun the academy, and not grant them any of the prestige the skinsuit of the pre-war university system grants them.

I’m still only part way through Naval Gazing’s incredible 27 article long history of the Falklands War but my god is this an incredible story and one of the most fascinating case studies in all the weirdest most finicky aspects of warfare… Submarines, sea-based fighters, Aircraft Carriers, Special Operations, logistics, Logistics, LOGISTICS!
This is one of the weirdest semi-peer wars in history, between two of the weirdest powers, at one of the oddest moments, in the oddest ass-crack of the world place you can imagine… And you’ve got to some how make thousands of men and hundreds of thousands of tons of steel fight in that weirdness.
This is the story the good autist will tell his son.
Check it out.

Remember lockdowns? Remember how viciously dumb and destructive so much of it was? How dump trucks of sand were placed on skate parks? How people were arrested for going to the beach or kids arrested for going to the park? Remember how they shut down gyms in the middle of a pandemic who’s survivability was determinable from your fitness level?
Remember how everyone just kinda forgot about that and agreed to pretend it didn’t happen for the sake of peace, and I’m now breaking that uneasy truce because the founding motto of the American Empire is “Live Free or Die” and if we were honorable creatures worthy of peace more would have died from the Anti-Lockdown riots than did the virus… (What you expected the author of Anarchonomicon to be agreeable?)
Well there’s one place were lockdowns never ended. Where it is always May 2020, forever. Where you may never see the faces of your fellow man or associate freely…
Nursing homes.
And one Geriatrics physician has a terrifying blog documenting the horrific ways already vulnerable and isolated elderly patients have had their lives destroyed and reduced to lonesome hell by the same bureaucratic responsibility dodging and devouring matriarchy that banned the beach and called it science… despite you know no scientist ever suggesting or even proposing the possibility of a study that might support it.

The most popular Tabletop RPG in the western world is of course Dungeons and Dragons, every nerd, theatre kid, and medieval enthusiast has rolled the d20 at some point or another.
But in Japan the most popular tabletop RPG is not even fantasy… Its Call of Cthulhu. Outselling all other Tabletop RPGs combined!
Now Call of Cthulhu is an excellent RPG, focusing on the social tension of investigation and the incomprehensible unseen horror of the Lovecraft mythos… its probably one of the best role-playing experiences sheerly from how much it lends itself to late nights with a few friends, and the inherent limitation of not being able to actually see anything happening. With a Dungeon Crawling D&D session there’s always kinda of a question of why you’re not playing a video game… With Call of Cthulhu, it couldn’t be a video game, or at least it couldn’t be a multiplayer videogame with all that freedom.
But this is also why its so weird it would be so popular… A tense social game with little combat? That dominates the Japanese market!?
Then you find out who dominates Call of Cthulhu sales and it starts to make horrifying sense…. Women. Specifically young women, age 16-34. They buy enough Call of Cthulhu to drown out all other Japanese roll-playing combined.
What draws Japanese women to the terror of Lovecraft? Could it be inhuman gods creating a hopeless world where the only hope is to flee into madness might speak to a generation of young women in a barren country with no marriage prospects who’ve watched their men be devoured by crushing mega-corps and animated porn empires…
Or do Nippon girls just love tentacles?
Anyway this is the article that introduced me to the phenomenon of Japanese Call of Cthulhu culture… But if you have any insights for a more thorough look, or just good resources on Call of Cthulhu in general, let me know.
And this is a solid video on Lovecraft in Japan

Anyone who’s hung out in New Right, Dirtbag left, or Just twitter in general has almost certainly heard of Ray Peat and his controversial theories on health. And vastly more have heard of his impact and the growing hatred of Seed Oils (Vegetable, Canola, Sunflower seed, soybean oil, about 10 others) as the seeming cause of all America’s health woes.
The thing is there really isn’t an obvious or great introduction to the anti seed oil worldview… And then I stubbled onto Jeff Noobs excellent piece. It has it all the data, the hyperbole, the narrative, the obscession with Coconut Oil. Everything you need to become a twitter body builder.
I found it deeply compelling and I encourage you to give it a look.

What proportions are the apex of beauty? What are people really attracted too?
These should be trivial to answer with basic survey methods, evo psych, and the entire corpus of western art meant to capture these elusive qualities… and yet what you're most likely to get out of Academia and the press are lies meant to prop up whatever cause de Juer is dominating amongst the activist class…
Who can we trust to give us the hard unvarnished truth under these conditions?
Mal-Adjusted Autists! Obviously.
Does J. Sanilac have a few screw loose? Obviously. Is half his (I’m assuming male) site dedicated to Ottoman White Slavery erotica? Yes. Does his choice to include sex dolls and viral jiggle gifs in his dataset immediately make him unlinkable in any professional setting. Dear God Yes. I don’t care if he adhered to norms about what can and Can’t be shown… you’ll lose your job if you open this at work.
But my god is Dispelling Beauty Lies: The Truth About Feminine Beauty (NSFW) the best and most comprehensive effort you could hope to find on a subject.
The man has an artificer’s eye, and sure scolds will object and argue against his plainly “problematic” frankness… but my god if you’re a girl or guy who wants to claim aesthetic power without regard for your soul or delicate sensibilities… this is piece for you.

By now everyone and their dogs has heard of ChatGPT… Portent of the end time, still not as fun as Tay, everyone has an opinion.
But one of the most interesting aspects is what it has done to the laptop class… the web of PR, HR, Sales, and Thot… Thought leaders.
Our civilization employs millions of people in jobs that basically exist to be as annoying and unoriginal as possible, until the few remaining free men of industry are either nagged into compliance (You WILL buy the new SASS program, You WILL NOT persist to find a way around this regulatory hurdle, you WILL NOT exclusively hire autists who can innovate)
These 110-115 IQ midwits exist to basically regurgitate the same words in the same authoritative uninteresting tone, communicating nothing, in a circle, until something gets sold or some free spirit dies. They do this for 10 hours a week, and scroll twitter and reddit whilst they pretend to work the other 30.
These people are ChatBots… So what happens when you put them up against AI Chatbots?

Music
Everyone has different musical tastes, so this is all subjective… you know like real life. but I’ve been truly shocked at the quality of what I’ve been seeing out of online hobbyists in the musical Sphere.
First the realm of Anime Music Videos has really taken off… sure most of its cringe or gimmicky, but one particular YouTube artist has blown my mind.
Nokuri might just be one of the best video editors working today on any projects. Period.
Nokuri draws out amazing thematic and visual overlaps between the songs and anime he’s working on, and rips through after effects to completely transform and recontextualize both the audio and the image. little 3 second moments might have video form 3 separate episodes merged together, with audio form both the song and 2 other episodes, combined to create completely new experiences… and you don’t even notice it unless you’re an autist like me who remembers every shot from cowboy bebop.
These are some of the best music videos I’ve ever seen. This editing is art.
Likewise his FLCL edit of Two Door Cinema Club captures the beauty of adolesence and the yearning of budding adulthood combined with the imagination and anxieties of children like nothing else:
Part of this is Cowboy Bebop and FLCL are some of the best works ever made by man… but as someone who spends a good chunk of my workflow editing images other people produce… This is fucking quality.
For reference this is a Excellent song by an excellent artist set to an AMV of a Anime the song itself was written about (check it out)… and it doesn’t hold a cadle in terms of audio visual depth
.
Focusing now on audio editing. You’ve heard of SLOWED and REVERBED Little Dark Age edits? But have you heard of Symphonic Ace Combat Somebody That I Used to Know edits? No, I am not just Stringing random words together. Exceptional creativity on this one and a very strong edit.
But what would be the perfect musical edit? What would be an unachievable dream of an edit… Combining 8 different songs from multitple artists and genres and their music videos, in addition to the poetry of Samuel Taylor Coolidge, all in a fast paced bop you could throw on at any club and have it be the song of the night?
Impossible!? That would never work?
My friends, Witness what it is to go even Further BEYOND:

I LOVE the HST gonzo rant "you isolate yourself after extensive exercise....if properly horrified however, hit publish immediately..." !!
Also THANK YOU for sharing awesome AMV. IMO the best AMV capture the refined essence of hours of film. Here's some of my favorites:
Akira AMV All Limiters Off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMUAwsxR-dQ - Is it just me, or does this make more sense than the movie?
Paradelous - Maverick Hunter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuHozLGduKA - Redline was made for AMV.
Perturbator - Venger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbnHutA1u_0 - desperate Bladerunner cyberpunk mood.
Dirty Paws - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7Sgg5nF1q4 - If ever a song was esoterically meant to soundtrack Princess Mononoke, this must be it.
Wind See's you Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkea1hcbDxc - See?? Ghibli's not just fuzzy animals
And in case your open mouth hasn't torn out your face yet: Lorn Sega Sunset https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mauV2NdCs60
Thanks for the links! Love Bailey podcast. I was on the second episode years back, about architecture.
As for the death of literature, pretty sure techno-commercial developments wrt how we consume words and other "content" has more to do with it.
