Indeed, if these people were as powerful and all controlling as they are often alleged to be, then this stuff should have never, ever come out. And Epstein should have never been arrested in the first place.
The best I can do by way of explanation is to theorize that laws do still have force if there are people willing to apply them. And in the case of Epstein's original arrest, I'm thinking the West Palm Beach parents of girls who were abused, who refused to let it go, forced the government's hand at a prosecution. In the face of which Epstein and Co. decided it was more expedient to use their influence to negotiate a sweetheart deal rather than eliminate the parents. Although I cannot guess who forced his 2nd arrest, or why.
And as it relates to Congress ordering the release of "The Files," maybe it was nothing more complicated than TDS. The Ds thought they were finally gonna get him, and they enlisted enough Rs who cared about getting "the truth" out. Although this explanation seems insufficient. Still, the DOJ has enough juice to defy it (in part) with (so far) impunity.
